We´ve had a week of fire, at Pedrogão Grande, The biggest forest fire we ever had. In a region full of trees and the problem is just that, instead of natural trees to the land, the country has been planted with trees that grow fast and can be sold fast. And that means eucalypts (natural from Australia) and pines. 47 people were killed while they were driving away from the fire, in the now called " the road of dead". The total of the dead is now 62, but there are many injured. Some people stayed at their houses and were saved since the houses are built of stone and tiles and not wood. One person who knows this is Liedewij Schieving, a dutch women, living in Quinta da Fonte who has suffered only small damages. A Meo acabou de me oferecer mais 50 canais, incluindo a Eurosport e a Fox Comedy e telefonemas grátis para os telemóveis, para ficar mais 24 meses. Como eu já tencionava ficar, aceitei. Eu tenho 150 canais e vejo uns quatro. Agora recomecei a ver telenovelas e fiquei admirada da qualidade das portuguesas, comparando com as brasileiras. Comecei até a pensar que se fossem em alemão e com legendas, eu via e achava que eram mesmo boas. Primeiro porque apostaram nas paisagens bonitas, se a novela se passa em Lisboa, andam sempre a passear em Belém e na Expo e os mais pobres vivem nos bairros pitorescos mas renovados de Alfama ou da Sé. Se é no Porto lá andam eles nas quintas do Douro, e os pobres perto da Ponte D.Luís, a Ribeira. Agora há uma passada entre Ílhavo e os Açores. As histórias interessam pouco, são sempre filhos que andam à procura dos pais que julgavam mortos ou ao contrário. Man are destroying nature, We cut trees to make paper to say " don´ t destroy nature!". We cut trees to make pastures to cattle we shouldn´t eat. We shouldn´t eat so much meat. Only a little. We have factories to produce things we don´ t need, made of plastic that will pollute the water. Toys children don ´ t need, too many toys, they should have less, they should create their toys. We have too many gadgets, clothes, things we toss away. We use oil, and coal, until they cease to exist. We pollute the rivers, kill the fishes, hunt the animals. The climate is changing. Heat, rains, floods, hurricaines... Someday there won´t be wildlife anymore, clean water, clean air. And when we try to stop it, while we can, there comes somebody against it, saying it´s not our fault the climate changes, Keep going, there are some yeras left, twenty, thirty? We may not be alive then, so why should we care?
